This month's verse:
Romans 5:8
But God demonstrates his own love for us in this:
While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Discussing it with your kids: No one likes to think about all the times we've made mistakes, yet it's a fact of life. We not only make mistakes, but sometimes we know what is right and choose not to do it! This is a problem. God is perfect (holy). If we want to be with Him, we have to find some way to rid ourselves of our bad choices and mistakes(sin). This verse reminds us that we are in need of a way to get rid of our sin. This is the first step to salvation: understanding that we need a savior. There is good news on Romans Road- Next month we will learn from Romans 6:23 that "the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." The good news keeps coming! Here are the stops along the ROMANS ROAD.
Stop 1- Romans 3:23-For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.
Stop 2- Romans 6:23- For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Stop 3- Romans 5:8- But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Stop 4- Romans 10:13- For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.
Stop 5- Romans 10:9-10- If you declare with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord" and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved
